Halfway through the year and I'm reflecting on my goals for 2021.</p><p>Make Nine update. I've completed 4 out of 9 items.</p><p>For the remainder of the year I would like to complete the following goals:</p><p>Attend a sewalong every month</p><p>May's sewalong- Toronto Tee</p><p>May's Sewalong Hallon Dress</p><p>Participate in at least one challenge a month. This will keep me focused</p><p>Sew Together May -Love Notion's Sunday Romper</p><p>Make a Cosplay outfit and wear it for my birthday</p><p>Make jeans by December 31st, 2021</p><p>Make a swimsuit</p><p>Make a jacket by November 30, 2021</p><p><br /></p><p>I would like to be a little more intentional when selecting my monthly project. While listening to the Seamwork Radio podcast they discussed a fantastic way to narrow down sewing projects.</p><p>There's five questions to ask when selecting projects</p><p>1. What am I excited to make?</p><p>2. What do I have all the supplies for?</p><p>3. What do I actually need in my closet? </p><p>4. What color thread is in my serger?</p><p>5. Project that I have 3 outfits for it?</p><p><br /></p><p>I did not complete my plans in May. I am going to move those two items to June.</p><p>Annelaine Lakeside Dress</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinCUbuLlkdBAhMvRWwD36A-j7bpH6B3VX2_Wzq0fHn1jQV4HJJzqLMpzYXXfJLf37XEY0rISY-1X6k9O-VABJCVlgOcSw2W4NNNjtDBnGd8HF7C1oxE3Fd-42BUs4YocfPSkee8uuq0Thk/s888/lakeside.PNG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="888" data-original-width="752" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinCUbuLlkdBAhMvRWwD36A-j7bpH6B3VX2_Wzq0fHn1jQV4HJJzqLMpzYXXfJLf37XEY0rISY-1X6k9O-VABJCVlgOcSw2W4NNNjtDBnGd8HF7C1oxE3Fd-42BUs4YocfPSkee8uuq0Thk/s320/lakeside.PNG" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>New Look 6669</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_czuDsxo65i2OXpOW8_Sx0NoeGwX78FmEHKBk37xBo6xspPJlEtRk388c3URV46Dxfik3GJUXAHY622IDaSC_EJ29nb8pocOhSuUC72buQ0LbMG8ENQ0E0KLMa6WG66Lvds7Ala-QG7Vh/s374/nl6669.PNG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="313" data-original-width="374" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_czuDsxo65i2OXpOW8_Sx0NoeGwX78FmEHKBk37xBo6xspPJlEtRk388c3URV46Dxfik3GJUXAHY622IDaSC_EJ29nb8pocOhSuUC72buQ0LbMG8ENQ0E0KLMa6WG66Lvds7Ala-QG7Vh/s320/nl6669.PNG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>Simplicity 9048</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhyGKjkVntdf4v6U7XE9h-sLZaryaK2KKxw58v8mK74SViqMK77kO-jXlz_rsTvNj7SwcJ39NvfFk8cTS4DyeV3IHg10bpt0-LYhD5FRcbc2sOKE4QExoqFMcRsPhxDa9ztF5yzmZ2g__V/s304/s9048.PNG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="304" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhyGKjkVntdf4v6U7XE9h-sLZaryaK2KKxw58v8mK74SViqMK77kO-jXlz_rsTvNj7SwcJ39NvfFk8cTS4DyeV3IHg10bpt0-LYhD5FRcbc2sOKE4QExoqFMcRsPhxDa9ztF5yzmZ2g__V/s0/s9048.PNG" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Shamjhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16516616826934250733noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8571628518383949373.post-82891542596283025602021-05-31T05:00:00.094-07:002021-06-10T09:00:07.435-07:00May 2021 Sewing Makes<p><b><u> Beginner Sewing Summit</u></b></p><p>The summit ran from May 3rd to the 7th. So this is a May make. </p><p>I made this wearable muslin for my daughter. She absolutely loves romper.</p><p>I purchased this pattern during one of Love Notion's Feature Friday sales. I also purchased the Ladies Sunday Romper. Hopefully, I'll have time to make the Ladies Romper.</p><p><span style="font-family: courier; font-size: x-small;">This pattern has <span style="background-color: white;">front and back v-neck openings that allow for easy on and off. Patch pockets are super practical and look great! An elasticated casing at the natural waist makes this easy to fit and wear. Choose from a tank or dolman bodice. Four bottom options include 5″ shorts, cropped pants, full-length pants, and knee-length skirts. This romper is meant for knit fabrics.</span></span></p><p>This pattern is perfect because it allowed me to work towards this month's goal: to practice installing necklines in knit garments. This pattern was interesting because it has a v-neck. This was a first for me. Installing the neckline was not that bad. </p><p><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-size: 16px;">For this pattern, I used a striped knit fabric that I found at Walmart. It was $4 for 2 yards. You will hear no complaints from me.</span></p><p><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-size: 16px;">I cut a size 10. The bodice was a little big and didn't lay as nice as I would have liked. I am happy with the length of the bottoms. </span><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666;">This was easy to make. </span><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666;"> </span></p><p><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666;">My daughter would like a romper with butterfly print fabric. For the butterfly print romper, </span><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666;">I am going to cut the size 8 romper and lengthen the shorts. I'm not sure if I am going to keep the V-neck in the back of the bodice. I might round out the back neck and add a button. We will see. </span><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666;"> </span></p><p><span face="Raleway, Helvetica, Arial, Lucida, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #666666;">I would also like to make the dress with the tank bodice. </span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn92NUKQtyRiGIs4Zb9wW0Fg9yRSwKtIRA4apg2QoL6FUXP7gLSnPAoMNzK1xQ9GvL4sepv7ThKyse0Ohr6rHcYukZvBFbDLuRZuXc-UuJzKryUZj0OYgEhus_YX6-6V-d5wbfy50R3QqW/s2048/IMG_20210508_135336502.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn92NUKQtyRiGIs4Zb9wW0Fg9yRSwKtIRA4apg2QoL6FUXP7gLSnPAoMNzK1xQ9GvL4sepv7ThKyse0Ohr6rHcYukZvBFbDLuRZuXc-UuJzKryUZj0OYgEhus_YX6-6V-d5wbfy50R3QqW/s320/IMG_20210508_135336502.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxTJ8n5NtUrRk4bjd3osjtKzkautG9ZpNsJ2q0I5-RStVugz36ZCNNW9CrpJ6VG7oRsPyULCLmHjtDw3GworGUaS1iUgVSSoKt2szl6DwQ4ps908qTwFIIZz7IGjfMZ5G2A7m6VH1mTs0f/s2048/IMG_20210508_135333924.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxTJ8n5NtUrRk4bjd3osjtKzkautG9ZpNsJ2q0I5-RStVugz36ZCNNW9CrpJ6VG7oRsPyULCLmHjtDw3GworGUaS1iUgVSSoKt2szl6DwQ4ps908qTwFIIZz7IGjfMZ5G2A7m6VH1mTs0f/s320/IMG_20210508_135333924.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKQfyYydoS2b0Tr3IpAOjmeb8W8YhKxUGNu5a-WxZNshI6aN-WtZ6ypXTViCFyOMqOF4-VvyG8TaF5-MRgTAuoj6sSTiNCZICc-v0_cxODR7zk6PZi4EW_1qXcvPLyySQ3JlfXvNzsQtaF/s2048/IMG_20210508_135334960.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKQfyYydoS2b0Tr3IpAOjmeb8W8YhKxUGNu5a-WxZNshI6aN-WtZ6ypXTViCFyOMqOF4-VvyG8TaF5-MRgTAuoj6sSTiNCZICc-v0_cxODR7zk6PZi4EW_1qXcvPLyySQ3JlfXvNzsQtaF/s320/IMG_20210508_135334960.jpg" /></a></div>Here's some pics of my daughter doing cartwheels. I doubt I will be able to make as many items this month. There's a few things going on this month. First off...It's May. Month 5 of 12! This has been a tough year but I pray it gets better. </p><p>Let's start with my Goals for May:</p><p>-Participate in Me Made May. I would like to wear one Me Made garment per day. </p><p>-Make 70% of my projects with fabric from my stash</p><p>-From May 3rd to the 7th, I am going to attend the Sewing Summit sponsored by Rebecca Page Patterns. This will be my first time attending a sewing related event. I am super excited!!!! So the first two weeks of May I plan on working on the projects from the summit.</p><p>-Continue to practice necklines in knit garments</p><p>-Participate in one sewalong</p><p>I've narrowed down my Sewing Plans to 4 patterns.</p><p>1. I hope you're hanging in there. Here in Florida everything is pretty much open. We're still required to wear mask. I am not complaining. </p><p>April was an amazing month. I made 16 garments!!!! I made quite a few easy makes but still <span style="color: #cc0000; font-size: large;">16</span>!!!! So I am not going into too much detail about each make because this would be a super long post.</p><p>This month, I have been focusing on a few things</p><p>-practicing necklines in knit garments. </p><p>-making an effort to use fabric from my stash.</p><p>I'm officially in love with indie patterns. I don't have to do as many adjustments. </p><p>So we go with my makes for this month</p><p>1. Please forgive me for the bathroom picture.<br />
You guys already know that I've wanted to make a bow-tie blouse since last year, maybe even the year before. I've wanted an animal print bow-tie blouse ever since I saw Meghan McCain wearing her blouse on The View.</div>

This blouse is part of my Make 20 in 2020 sewing plans. It was somewhat easy to make. I had a little trouble with the back placket. But I took a deep breathe and tried it again.</div>

Fabric: I used the Cheetah print fabric that I purchased from Fabric Wholesale Direct. The video of my Fabric Wholesale Direct Fabric Haul is linked to this post. This fabric washed beautifully and soft to the touch. My sewing machine loved this fabric. </div>

<div>
Would I make this pattern again? Yes, I am looking for a solid fabric, to make this pattern again. I am also thinking about making this blouse for my mom. (My mom loves Bow-Tie blouse.</div>

Everything in Florida opened on May 4th. I plan to self quarantine until June. When the school year officially closes, I might and that's a strong might, leave the house.</div>

Me Made May continues with this top that I have not posted yet. I don't think I've posted it because it's missing something. But I wore it this week for a Zoom meeting.<br />

Good morning Sewing Family,<br />
<br />
I hope everyone is staying safe.<br />
<br />
We officially have pants. Black pants to be exact. This has been on my sewing to do list for a very long time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkTD7RZWO4gc0S6jNd1aB_3yV_7SfAz_SWdM4CzbCkQANhpVUlVZPvmE6tVRTJVOZxfGZ5Kp8cPaeanH91yIJsEDKP-rWJf1BczaCJ9U30IGoBzEauTfOUygp07SBn7K3G2xJS2X53htQo/s1600/20200310_214056.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkTD7RZWO4gc0S6jNd1aB_3yV_7SfAz_SWdM4CzbCkQANhpVUlVZPvmE6tVRTJVOZxfGZ5Kp8cPaeanH91yIJsEDKP-rWJf1BczaCJ9U30IGoBzEauTfOUygp07SBn7K3G2xJS2X53htQo/s320/20200310_214056.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Fabric: this pattern calls for a stretch woven. I purchased a black knit with spandex that looks amazing and feels even better. I purchased this fabric at Joann's.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For some reason, I always forget to purchase a zipper. Out of all notions that's the one item that I can't remember. So I had to take a second trip to Joann's.</div>

During this break, I have had a lot of time to sew. I made this top in 2 or 3 days.<div>
<br /><br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This blouse is beautiful and has a lot of details. There's gathering in the front and the back.The sleeves have a continuous lap and the waist ties are extremely long. You can tie the blouse in the front or in the back. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I loved making the sleeves because it gave me the opportunity to work on buttonholes, installing buttons on my sewing machine, anndddddddddd making a continuous loop for the first time!!!!! </div>

I absolutely love 1950s fashion: sheath dresses, pencil skirts, circle skirts, swing coats, and capris. It makes my heart sing when I see an amazing 1950s outfit. I haven't figured out how I am going to wear this top but I know it's going to be great.</div>

I hope you're having a great week.</div>

There's a few states that will open up beauty salons, nail salons, and beauty supply stores tomorrow. It just seems a little rushed. <br />
<br />
I do not plan on leaving the house for anything besides the essentials. My goal will be easy becuase I am planning to hit the sewing machine.<br />
April is halfway over and there's a few patterns that I would like to make before May.<br />
<br />
Below is a video of my plans for April. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe width="320" height="266" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/woCmIFC4jm4/0.jpg" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/woCmIFC4jm4?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
What do you plan on making, or what have you made so far? <br />
<br />
Please be safe and Happy Sewing.<br />

If someone told me this would have happened in 2020 then I would have skipped it and moved on to 2021.<br />
<br />
I know we all have made a list of things that we want to do during this time and crazy enough we haven't touch an item on the list. I am guilty of this.<br />
<br />
I am trying to use this time wisely but it difficult.<br />
<br />
There's such a sadness in my heart.<br />
<br />
So many people have lost their loved ones. We don't get to visit our friends and family the way we would like to.<br />
<br />
Unemployment rate skyrocketing. Schools closed. Parks closed. Beaches closed. Disney World Closed. <br />
<br />
No go-carting, no bowling, no karaoke, no dinner or drinks with friends. <br />
<br />
My family will not get to attend my 8th grader's middle school graduation, my 5th grader's middle school graduation, or my Kindergarten's graduation.<br />
<br />
I never realized how important it was to actually get up and walk into a church building to praise and worship. It's difficult trying to keep a connection to God.<br />
<br />
I never realized how hard it would be to stay indoors. It eye opening to realize that your family drives you up a wall.<br />
<br />
I'm usually a very strong person but right now I feel lost.<br />
<br />
Where is the world going from here? What will December of 2020 look like?<br />
<br />
This evening I attended a Virtual Bible Study. I'm just baffled.<br />
<br />
My kids want to go to school and see their classmates and they can't. They want to go to the grocery store with me and they can't. They want to know when they will see their classmates and their teachers and when the world will get back to normal. I don't have an answer for them. The uncertainty is scary. I know I am supposed to pray about it and have faith.<br />
<br />
But right now I'm just taking it one day at a time. More like 2 hours at a time.<br />
<br />
I realized that I don't know myself. I don't know what I like. I like to read but i don't get to read much with homeschooling. I like to sew but i don't get to do that much either. Nothing around me make me find true joy. So I realized I don't like myself. I don't like who I thought i was and I don't know who I want to be.<br />
<br />
What's next? What do I do from here?<br />
<br />
Lost and Confused<br />

It's crazy that we've got to the point of needing facemask. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made a few facemask for the family. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you want to make your own facemask there's quite a few videos on YouTube. </div>

<br />
I realized that I owe you guys some pictures. Please know that I'm not behind on my sewing plans but behind on pictures.<br />
<br />
This Global Pandemic, the Coronavirus has put a stand still on events outside of the house. So it might take a little while longer for photos.<br />
<br />
During this time of isolation, I am taking advantage of family time, videochating, anddddd SEWING!<br />
<br />
During the last two months, back druing my sewing hiatus I realized that sewing has relieved some of the stress that I have been carrying for the past few months. Sewing has been so therapeutic.<br />
<br />
My last job made it impossible to have a life outside of work and it did not end well. I worked with difficult people which exist in every line of business. I was borderline crazy. I felt like my world was going to crash in front of me. I would never wish that experience on anyone not even my enemies.<br />
<br />
I'm going to stop ranting and let's move on to my WIP items. Last year I added at least 1 WIP per month. It was quite sad and when I look at my WIP pile I get overwhelmed. <br />
<br />
This year, I am going to knock out some of my WIPs. Below I have included photos of some of my WIPs. These are just a handful and does not include fabric and patterns that were cut and never pieced together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm officially jumping on the bandwagon!!!! This pattern was the Sew Your View Challenge for November 2019. This pattern is simple and has so much potential especially with the right fabric. In my stash, I had this burgundy knit fabric that I was planning to use to make a dress. <br />
<br />
I made this pattern out of the envelope with no modifications.<br />

<strong><u>Sewing Pattern Review</u></strong></div>
<br />
<strong>Pattern Description: </strong><br />
<br />
<b>Pattern Sizing:</b><br />
8 to 24<br />
I made the top in a size 18. The skirt was cut in a size 16. To eliminate the need to adjust the sleeve band, I cut a size 14 sleeve band.<br />
<br />
<b>Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?</b><br />
Yes<br />
<br />
<b>Were the instructions easy to follow?</b><br />
Yes <br />
<br />
<b>What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?</b><br />
I love the fact that this pattern was easy to make.<br />
<br />
<b>Fabric Used:</b><br />
Burgundy Knit Fabric with raised flower design I have no idea where I purchased this fabric.<br />
<br />
<b>Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?</b><br />
Yes. This pattern would be cute in a striped knit. <br />
<b></b><br />

<br />
Heres the picture from the first day of school a few years ago but you can barely see the skirt.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_GMbjL_bI5shPcXMb9j2xEVgZ3n2jXivkT8FdF98EuT7CRux0Jt6FlMjR-kaTQ6LUPOZBmhpKyMwV8p2vStJynPRwadMBnV_Qi9xfyKDz6v_PYzgjYy_bevJnJ-kaYLRzxTkmj1YmPqV/s1600/IMG_6613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1150" data-original-width="1600" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_GMbjL_bI5shPcXMb9j2xEVgZ3n2jXivkT8FdF98EuT7CRux0Jt6FlMjR-kaTQ6LUPOZBmhpKyMwV8p2vStJynPRwadMBnV_Qi9xfyKDz6v_PYzgjYy_bevJnJ-kaYLRzxTkmj1YmPqV/s320/IMG_6613.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This all began the week before school started. I was minding my own business when out of nowhere Pinterest attacked me. That's not how it really how it went but close enough. Lol! I was looking for outfit ideas for my tween when I can across this photo on Pinterest. I felt like this photo slapped me. Why didn't I think of this Look before. I could not seem to find a pattern to achieve the Look that I was going for.<br />
<br />
So I made this skirt and now a few years later I need to make this skirt again as part if a cosplay costume.<br />
<br />
I figured I would share the steps I did the first time to accomplish this look.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used this skirt as a guide for size and construction.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Instead of making a pattern piece I laid the skirt on the fabric. I cut the fabric an inch longer and 4 inches longer to have enough fabric to create the pleats.</div>

<br />
Yesterday was my anniversary. 15 years with the best man in the world. He knows how to drive my bonkers. But he also knows the key to my heart. You all know that I needed a dress for my anniversary since I wore <a href="https://foxxystitches.blogspot.com/2020/02/vogue-8825-valentines-dance-dress.html" target="_blank">Vogue 8825</a> to my son's Valentine's Day Dance. I had 7 days to make a masterpiece.<br />
<br />
When I purchased this pattern, I opened the pattern envelope to find a great surprise. For some reason, it did not click that I purchased a Create it pattern.<br />
I made a video about the Create It Process. Enjoy.<br />

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "verdana" , "arial" , "helvetica" , "sans serif"; font-size: 14px;"><br /></span>
<b>Pattern Sizing:</b><br />
this time around I cute a size 18 all the way through. The fabric does not have a lot of stress ak I should have cut a size bigger.<br />
<br />
<b>Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?</b><br />
<br />
Yes<br />
<br />
<b>What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?</b><br />
<br />
I struggled with the line drawing for attaching the lining.<br />
<br />
<b>Fabric Used:</b><br />
Red Ponte purchased at Joann's. I am not impressed with the feel of this fabric. The fabric does not have as much stress and it's not as soft as I would have liked.<br />
<br />
<b>Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?</b><br />
<br />
Absolutely<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPPhhKZCbmrtqs70IRhyPEr5GdO5wzZkEwsNlMxwjtmbDSkUeUhX-1A1klu5ti1LzpP9I4W5uALz8eI6yl6BRRbtv6Nt5wqa2EutVIS6_IdwCzDVsbJ7086eNlae8_rEjCVM2wOHtTGEoe/s1600/20200211_192353.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPPhhKZCbmrtqs70IRhyPEr5GdO5wzZkEwsNlMxwjtmbDSkUeUhX-1A1klu5ti1LzpP9I4W5uALz8eI6yl6BRRbtv6Nt5wqa2EutVIS6_IdwCzDVsbJ7086eNlae8_rEjCVM2wOHtTGEoe/s320/20200211_192353.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When I started this dress I was super excited until....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Until I realized that I missed a step. I did not cut the lining. No biggie right? Wrong I had less than 3/4 of fabric left. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
No problem I squeezed the pattern pieces to fit the fabric and then continued the process.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The night before my anniversary I attached the skirt to the bodice and tried on my new dress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I could not get the dress over my head. The lining was too small because I did not cut in according to the grain line. After making some last minute changes I was able to wear this beautiful dress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My husband loves the dress and we had an amazing night. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Unfortunately I didn't take pictures wearing the dress. I will definitely take pictures and post later.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's day!!! </div>

<br />
This week I have been looking through my pattern stash and searching online for a dress pattern to make for my Anniversary. During my search I realized that there's a lot of amazing dress patterns for Valentine's Day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1XubL36BmmPf3Gg_Ue8e_SeqRQy9m210SBYKYRGCshiq3S4tdOb2umY8w9n031O7y5-tuboBnzeGsEb72gYR1WyL7LUF2g8xDFF_EGw3RySeiMAxVUpfBfp-eTk34_KAIJ7k7ISC6JKrw/s1600/heart.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="194" data-original-width="201" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1XubL36BmmPf3Gg_Ue8e_SeqRQy9m210SBYKYRGCshiq3S4tdOb2umY8w9n031O7y5-tuboBnzeGsEb72gYR1WyL7LUF2g8xDFF_EGw3RySeiMAxVUpfBfp-eTk34_KAIJ7k7ISC6JKrw/s1600/heart.PNG" /></a></div>
<br />
I have selected 10 sewing patterns that would look great for Valentine's day. I am actually using one of these patterns for my Anniversary Dress. I can't tell you which one because my husband reads my blog. :-)<br />
<br />
I have to admit that it was difficult to narrow down to 10 dress patterns. I selected a handful of patterns that you can hack and create a completely different look.<br />
<br />
Here's the my top 10 sewing patterns for Valentine's Day:<br />
<br />
1) <a href="https://foxxystitches.blogspot.com/2020/02/vogue-8825-valentines-dance-dress.html" target="_blank">Vogue 8825</a> which I made earlier this month. This pattern is easy to make and you can make it in a plain fabric or cute print fabric like I did. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-7RcBzdovjMkhT65RNzLjCt7qDfCAbnZkHG7yDunDdYS1E5YJD7x-otYdowH7az0QXwqu5TAj7B-kNthtNY2nZfgPwlPc7L42C2_NDNuKPOaFxKZz1hA-03rN_riMHGXHLJr4p_ZoKRoN/s1600/p1.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="784" data-original-width="576" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-7RcBzdovjMkhT65RNzLjCt7qDfCAbnZkHG7yDunDdYS1E5YJD7x-otYdowH7az0QXwqu5TAj7B-kNthtNY2nZfgPwlPc7L42C2_NDNuKPOaFxKZz1hA-03rN_riMHGXHLJr4p_ZoKRoN/s320/p1.PNG" width="235" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2) <a href="https://foxxystitches.blogspot.com/2017/06/the-beginning-of-addiction-mccall-6884.html" target="_blank">McCall 6884</a> is a Wrap Dress Pattern that's extremely easy to make. I made this pattern a few years ago. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtep0KGsr0LaRUku67zTyGkkgAvs1C66Cj6bZtWYI41U-GUs0QfFOXPwt37OzmG2MlfSd9EtLqtzmMEmir0t32wR8PH0Ob6YWnMzLU8rPMgHwxdLP21cio40sy3wBe0MCOqQUwBqmKiJOt/s1600/p2.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="740" data-original-width="583" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtep0KGsr0LaRUku67zTyGkkgAvs1C66Cj6bZtWYI41U-GUs0QfFOXPwt37OzmG2MlfSd9EtLqtzmMEmir0t32wR8PH0Ob6YWnMzLU8rPMgHwxdLP21cio40sy3wBe0MCOqQUwBqmKiJOt/s320/p2.PNG" width="252" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
3) Simplicity 7653 View B a sexy dress that drapes in the front. I love front draped dresses and blouses. Make this pattern in a sequined knit and you have a showstopper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSDkPPSu-pwjVxMGApgwWtCOJ2H-bKUNQXlaAVx_FnClDLXOsP08o_3BA651svo8iMdpvJWbQLJlYSGEm5jG9IhP3JuZYWgnhBFazBifN6bBeq2FV9V-5fZF_YBaqs2RS_5xRvmb-f-4nO/s1600/M7653_a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1164" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSDkPPSu-pwjVxMGApgwWtCOJ2H-bKUNQXlaAVx_FnClDLXOsP08o_3BA651svo8iMdpvJWbQLJlYSGEm5jG9IhP3JuZYWgnhBFazBifN6bBeq2FV9V-5fZF_YBaqs2RS_5xRvmb-f-4nO/s320/M7653_a.jpg" width="232" /></a></div>
4) McCall 7999 View B would look great in a velvet. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSj9Tw2mwC1tsEtkjgGYn5LWctcnJ8WpWlsaWEIKugs3RL4QM86rYLviewpREEmXVNnhItsh0L1A_hDhaPN8HSpbo8-qoGko_RS2LOllj9tzHVG0K1UcGuF0wfmVZAmHA8Zy_TPL_isOMY/s1600/dress1.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="769" data-original-width="556" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSj9Tw2mwC1tsEtkjgGYn5LWctcnJ8WpWlsaWEIKugs3RL4QM86rYLviewpREEmXVNnhItsh0L1A_hDhaPN8HSpbo8-qoGko_RS2LOllj9tzHVG0K1UcGuF0wfmVZAmHA8Zy_TPL_isOMY/s320/dress1.PNG" width="231" /></a></div>
5) McCall 6886 is a simple dress that you can modify and hack to create an amazing dress. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGzbfxmsLBmE76Ax1VJLf9HGwGskOHJg2EkRk2P10ymSb3sffwOuy6sqvVX8yr3sZCPdah5RzthqfEw-ozuyys-9He1xf8LBm81k4pCqS5ERaoYNXygRKriIcReAC9IJTIlnlLPuBM-QAj/s1600/p3.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="522" data-original-width="501" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGzbfxmsLBmE76Ax1VJLf9HGwGskOHJg2EkRk2P10ymSb3sffwOuy6sqvVX8yr3sZCPdah5RzthqfEw-ozuyys-9He1xf8LBm81k4pCqS5ERaoYNXygRKriIcReAC9IJTIlnlLPuBM-QAj/s320/p3.PNG" width="307" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
6) McCall 7926-- I love this pattern. It is one of McCall's Create It collection. This pattern has 4 bodice options and 3 skirt options. Have fun with this!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjrEshxTMC1LqWXeUJCAOcsRLumLCcjwR4TCDJd-ytaq7Xf6zMcZ0haFRcu5sOeGy8V0do3rbTBWGr2ujmY77YxoLYf7APHw8VoKRoLcQv-ft-UVw2eyn-ACZj83eTXkbM49rCWgo1I5S3/s1600/dress4.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="744" data-original-width="543" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjrEshxTMC1LqWXeUJCAOcsRLumLCcjwR4TCDJd-ytaq7Xf6zMcZ0haFRcu5sOeGy8V0do3rbTBWGr2ujmY77YxoLYf7APHw8VoKRoLcQv-ft-UVw2eyn-ACZj83eTXkbM49rCWgo1I5S3/s320/dress4.PNG" width="233" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
7) McCall 7833- This dress is super cute that can be made with a solid color knit, animal print, or a floral print. I want this dress in a leopard print or a bright red stretch velvet.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-kUVElEGzdKSqG3A79sQWTu_e7UhySX2z_Cxj2s6TEX0gmIwRjqORxupADz-AMyZx6GB10auuMu5yWJW07WH9F181cvHVtwuT8XUOxmyQVkhcih_v2YEYn5mXV0hCasklVIMdK13nNAXI/s1600/ss7833.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="651" data-original-width="465" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-kUVElEGzdKSqG3A79sQWTu_e7UhySX2z_Cxj2s6TEX0gmIwRjqORxupADz-AMyZx6GB10auuMu5yWJW07WH9F181cvHVtwuT8XUOxmyQVkhcih_v2YEYn5mXV0hCasklVIMdK13nNAXI/s320/ss7833.PNG" width="228" /></a></div>
<br />
8) McCall 8023 This pattern is super cute. At first glance, the fabric is a little busy and takes away from the beauty of this pattern. If I look at the line drawing, this would be gorgeous in a soft pink georgette or chiffon.<br />
<br />
This pattern is not a quick make because this dress has boning, elastic belt with bra extender, and bra v-separator. But the final product will be worth it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

9) McCall 7654- This is another McCall's Create It pattern. The different sleeves makes me want to make all of the looks.<br />

10) McCall 7719 is another McCall Create It pattern. Yes, I am obsessed with Create It patterns. This pattern has 3 bodices and 2 skirt options. I love bodice 2 and the back of bodice 1!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwfOxc9NxgL6YDDv9hXYYQi_lwSQaboafFUDs28Xf40yrAdv1AgMDHUZrhX30cTvFL089reDUIibKtUewTuMkw3hZ3mJKkege8sBEAN76ESXtQL5QW6dgel9dW8pJTqSoc01XayS8T3ioe/s1600/dress6.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="703" data-original-width="523" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwfOxc9NxgL6YDDv9hXYYQi_lwSQaboafFUDs28Xf40yrAdv1AgMDHUZrhX30cTvFL089reDUIibKtUewTuMkw3hZ3mJKkege8sBEAN76ESXtQL5QW6dgel9dW8pJTqSoc01XayS8T3ioe/s320/dress6.PNG" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
Pair one of these dresses with a pair of cute sandals or pumps and you are going turn heads.<br />
<br />
Let me know which pattern you make for Valentine's Day.<br />
<br />
Have a wonderful week and a fantastic weekend.<br />

<br />
It's February! January was extremely long and a lot has happened. Sadly we lost a legend, Kobe Bryant and the world is facing the effects of the Coronavirus. Despite everything that happened in January we need to strive to make 2020 a great year. We can't give up on our goals. Keep focus and push through obstacles.<br />
<br />
We're making progress on the quilt. Making a quilt is not a light task. Theres multiple steps and the hardest part is the size of the project. Literally the size. The larger the quilt the harder it is to maneuver it into the sewing machine.<br />
So far, I have cut out the blocks sewed them together.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After sewing the blocks together I sewed the pieces to batting. It was not easy to maneuver the batting and blocks on the sewing machine. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
During this adventure, there's 2 books that i used to guide me through the process. I have listed the 2 books below.<br />
<br />
1. Quilter's Precut Companion: Handy Reference Guide by Missouri Star Quilt Co.<br />
2. Quilt As-You-Go Made Modern: Fresh Techniques for Busy Quilters by Jera Brandvig<br />
<br />
These 2 books were heaven sent. Next up is meandering. Wish me luck.<br />
<br />
I'm making good timing with my Sewing Plan for this quarter. <br />
